Putnam Cottage.  Feb/04

A big turnout marked this 225th event, the event coordinator Sal Torrantino, put out a good spread for the participants. Approximatly 60 men at arms staged a battle on the village green. Each side had the use of a cannon and put on a good show for the crowd. We burned alot of powder while we side stepped the mud and ice. Attending were Mike, Kevin, Ernie, Dave and Phil. Dave acted as sgt for the day. This show is a annual  event for Walter Butlers Coy, and one that we are a;ways invited to.

Minisink May/04

A long talked event finally came off in Montgomery, NY. The site was the Farmers Museum, and proved to be a great place for this mid-size event. First let me say that the hosts treated the participants, around 150 in number very well. We were given lunch
at the main house in a orderly way and we had our fill.  After the event dinner was served to all and the fare consisted of ham with
salad, potatoes and bread plus dessert, There was plenty but you needed your meal ticket. Of course I lost mine but the man in charge took care of me, I must have looked like a poor soul begging for food.

As for the battle, sometimes these smaller battles are more fun than the big ones, everyone is important and everyone is needed
to put the battle on. We had 20+ rangers along with a few regulars and a large number of indians, The plan called for us to attack the rebels and then draw them into an ambush. We set up on top of the wooded hills and attacked the rebels  as they came into the clearing,  We fired many shots and had a great attack, our section was led by Ernie Coon in his first action as NCO, He did a great job and lead us down the hills as we pushed the rebels into retreat.
Attending for Walter Butlers and Frey's companies were Mike Trout, Kevin Maloney, Ernie Coon, Dave Solek, Scott Palmeri, John Ward, Dale Dennis and Phil M.  Jim Stevens had a large turnout of the upstate rangers. Of course our own But-Babes   Katie and Beckie were there to spread their sunshine.
